Since 1962 Parsons and Sons Transportation has been dedicated to maintaining a high standard of safety, service and reliability.
In February, 1962, Richard H. Parsons Sr., of Seal Cove, purchased 3 used school buses and put them into service on the newly opened Queen Elizabeth Regional High School. A pioneer of modern schooling in Newfoundland, Queen Elizabeth R.H.S. was the first of its kind, and an appropriate launching point for Richard's new bussing business.
Richard always took great pride in his growing fleet of buses, and in his roots. Dedicated to the principals of Safety Service and Reliability, he offered Parsons Transportation as a charter provider to the people and organizations of the area.
By 1985, Parsons Transportation had grown to a fleet of 22 buses serving 8 schools in C.B.S., Goulds and St. Philips. At the age of 68 Richard decided his time to retire was drawing near, as was his proprietorship of Parsons Transportation. With his four sons he incorporated Parsons & Sons Transportation Limited in December of that year, ushering in a new age of growth.
Always responsive to our customers need's, in 1990 Parsons & Sons bought it's first Converted Thomas Motor Coach to expand the Charter Service, and answer the need's of customers who demanded greater comfort on longer trips. The Thomas coach remained in service until 1996, when it was replaced by our first MCI Motor Coach. That same year, Parsons & Sons also bought its first Champion Mini Coach. Today, our fleet of Motor Coaches included vehicles built by MCI, Champion and Prevost.
An avid supporter of local sports, Richard was inducted into the C.B.S. Sports Hall of Fame as a Builder/Sponsor in 1997, just a few weeks before his death. He died of a massive heart attack while buying tires for a bus. Up until his death, the bus company was his first love, and he died doing what he loved to do. Parsons and Sons carries on in his memory, dedicated to his belief in Safety, Service and Reliability.
